Does LSU have a chance to catch Bama?

LSU walked off the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium in October, 2011 having won the latest "Game of the Century" and having a firm grip on the nation's #1 ranking. Three months later the Tide made amends. 17 months later, the gap continues to widen; although LSU took its best shot in Baton Rouge and outplayed the Tide.

LSU lost more early entries to the NFL Draft than any school in the country. That 2012 "D" with Montgomery, Mingo, Minter and Reid was devastating when determined. Bama, Texas A&M, South Carolina and Washington got the Tigers best and it showed. Anthony Johnson, Lamin Barrow and Craig Loston are called on to make plays and become leaders. Ditto Zack Mettenberger. Les Miles will take the Mettenberger he saw against Bama. LSU fans will take less game management mistakes out of the Mad Hatter. Don't sound the alarms just yet. LSU will win 9 or 10 with Jeremy Hill and a brute running game and the usual blazing speed on defense. TCU at Cowboys Stadium in the opener will be a sizeable barometer out of the gate.
